Where in Alameda Does the Tooth Fairy Shop?

IMAG0783

Apparently, the tooth fairy has been busy shopping in Alameda Pediatric Dentistry’s hometown. Have any of our patients noticed this sign on Pagano’s Hardware Mart on Lincoln Avenue? This local Alameda business has been around for decades, and apparently, even the tooth fairy shops here!

Meet Our New Associates

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry is growing! If you’ve been to the office this summer, you’ve probably noticed a couple of new faces making their rounds. Dr. Adam Shaffer became part of the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team on July 17, and Dr. Michael Wahl joined us shortly after.

“I am extremely proud to join the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team,” Dr. Wahl says. “I hope to bring additional experience in helping the cranio-facial patient, and for those patients needing general anesthesia.”

A Bay Area native who grew up in San Mateo, Dr. Wahl received his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and completed his dentistry degree and pediatric dental residency at New York University. When he’s not helping patients at the Alameda office or teaching pre-doctoral students at the University of Pacific Dental School, Dr. Wahl may often be spotted at the movie theater or out on the stands, supporting one of our local sports teams. Go Giants!

A baseball fan himself, Dr. Shaffer grew up playing Alameda Little League baseball. In between matches and practice sessions, he was a regular visitor to Alameda Pediatric Dentistry, where he was himself a patient.

“I am thrilled to be practicing dentistry back in my hometown, and this office is definitely where going to the dentist made a positive impression on me early on,” Dr. Shaffer says. “I look forward to serving each family and child as though they were my own.” (more…)

Building a Small-Town Practice through Generational Dentistry

They say once an Alamedan, always an Alamedan.

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry’s Dr. Sharine Thenard and new associate, Dr. Adam Shaffer, would know.

While both have lived, worked, and studied elsewhere, from Los Angeles to Ohio, coming back to practice dentistry in their beloved home town was a natural step.

“I grew up on the Island and was even a patient of this dental practice many years ago,” Dr. Thenard says. “Today, my friends and acquaintances from as far back as elementary school come in to have their kids’ teeth checked.”

Dr. Shaffer was also a patient of Alameda Pediatric Dentistry growing up and is grateful to work with Dr. Perry, who established the practice decades ago and whose community leadership, child advocacy, and philanthropy continue to shine a light on the city of Alameda. Dr. Shaffer recently moved back to Alameda with his fiancée. (more…)
