Dreaming of Teeth – What Does It Mean?

Young or old, most people have had dreams about their teeth – when it comes to recurring dreams, those related to teeth are among the most common. Unfortunately, dreams about teeth are typically on the nightmarish side, with themes like falling teeth, broken teeth, crowded teeth, and missing teeth among the variety jolting us awake.

Many, many interpretations of teeth-related dreams are out there. Keeping in mind that dream analysis is highly subjective, here are some explanations and accompanying advice we’ve collected from a handful of dream experts:

1. According to The Dr. Oz Show, dreams about teeth falling out are related to communication. Like teeth that fall out, you can’t put words back in your mouth. If you’re having this dream, you may wish to think about something you’ve said recently.
2. The Huffington Post recently reported that several factors could explain dreams about teeth falling out. According to an interview with Jungian psychotherapist, Richard Nicoletti, J.D., the dreamer may be feeling challenged in some way and should try to assess what it is they could be refusing to “bite into.”
3. The Dream Dictionary states that dreams of broken or chipped teeth could be metaphors of aspects of yourself that you feel need correction or repair, whether it’s an internal issue that is manifesting externally, or an outside force wearing you down.
4. Dream Moods adds that teeth symbolize power for their ability to bite, tear, chew, and gnaw. Loss of teeth in a dream, therefore, could symbolize feeling powerless or a lack of self confidence in some situation or relationship in your life.

In addition to dreaming about teeth, the top recurring dreams include being chased, being back at school, and being betrayed by a loved one. Sound familiar?
